A manager log book that fills in the numbers
Each store's day starts with its sales, labor and hours already filled in. Managers add what happened, and the log goes out by email when the day locks.

A forecast built from your register
Kronto forecasts each store's sales half hour by half hour, 8 weeks ahead, from that store's own Square, Toast or Clover history.
Explore dashboardsSling scheduling is free for up to 30 users, and its Premium and Business plans cost $1.70 and $3.40 per user per month, billed annually. Kronto is $5 per user per month and includes tip pooling, a manager log book and built-in payroll, which Sling's pages don't describe.
For 25 staff, Sling's free plan costs nothing, and Business billed annually is 25 × $3.40 = $85 a month[2]. Kronto is 25 × $5 = $125. If scheduling and messaging are all you need, Sling costs less.

Sling is the better choice for a team of up to 30 that wants scheduling, shift offers and messaging for free. Billed annually, Premium at $1.70 and Business at $3.40 per user cost $3.30 and $1.60 less than Kronto's $5. It also fits restaurants on Toast that want Toast's own scheduling app, with timesheets sent to Toast Payroll.
Sling is now Sling by Toast[2], and it exports timesheets to Toast Payroll[5]. It also offers a 15-day trial of its paid plans[2]. Kronto has no free-forever plan, but setup is free and you can create your account with no credit card, or book a demo first.

Sling's pricing, payroll and restaurant pages don't describe a tips feature. Kronto pools card tips from Square and Toast and cash declared in the app or on the store tablet, by role and store, splits them by hours, equally or by points, sends tip-outs to support roles and puts every share into payroll.
We checked Sling's pricing, payroll, integrations, restaurant and FAQ pages[4]. If tips are the reason you're looking, compare Kronto's tip pools in a demo.

Sling's pages describe sending timesheets to your payroll processor and name Toast Payroll as its payroll partner, with payroll reports on Business. They don't describe payroll inside Sling. Kronto runs payroll inside its $5 per user, with approved hours and tip shares in it, or exports them to your provider.
Sling says its timesheets pair with Toast Payroll for restaurants[5]. See restaurant payroll in Kronto.
Sling's integrations page shows Toast, comparing Toast sales with Sling labor costs, and its FAQ also names Shopify. Kronto connects to Square, Toast and Clover, reads each store's sales, locations and team members, and forecasts sales by half hour, 8 weeks ahead, from that store's own history.
Sling's integrations page lists Toast[6]. Kronto reads from your POS and never writes back to it.
