SMS Consent & Messaging Policy

How Passcom and the Kronto software platform handle text message communications

SMS Text Messaging Consent

By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent checkbox in the Kronto app, you expressly consent to receive SMS text messages from Kronto (powered by Passcom, Inc.) at the phone number you provide.

You will receive the following types of SMS text messages:

  • One-time verification codes for login and account security
  • Shift and schedule change notifications
  • Timecard and attendance alerts
  • Approval workflow updates (time-off requests, shift swaps, pickups, drops)
  • Team chat message notifications

No marketing or promotional messages will be sent. Message frequency varies based on your work activity. Message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by disabling notifications in the Passcom Kronto app. Reply HELP for assistance.

Consent to receive SMS text messages is not required to use Passcom Kronto. Providing your phone number is entirely optional.

Overview

Kronto by Passcom is a workforce management platform that helps employers and employees coordinate schedules, clock in/out, and communicate about shifts. As part of this service, users may choose to receive SMS text messages for time-sensitive notifications related to their work.

Providing a phone number and receiving text messages is entirely optional. Users can fully operate the Kronto platform without enabling SMS notifications. All notifications are also available through the Kronto web application and push notifications.

What Messages We Send

Kronto by Passcom sends SMS messages only for the following purposes:

One-Time Passcodes (OTP)

When a user opts to use SMS-based authentication, a one-time verification code is sent to confirm their identity during login or sensitive account actions. These are single, user-initiated messages sent only at the moment of the request.

Shift & Schedule Updates

Users who enable notifications may receive messages about schedule changes, shift reminders, swap requests, clock-in/out confirmations, and other work-related alerts. These are informational and directly tied to the user's employment activity.

Timecard & Attendance

Employees may receive notifications related to their timecards, including reminders to clock in or out, alerts when a timecard requires correction, and confirmations when a timecard has been submitted for review. Managers may receive notifications when employee timecards are ready for approval or when discrepancies are flagged.

Approval Workflows

Kronto by Passcom supports manager approval workflows for time-off requests, shift swaps, shift pickups, and shift drops. When an employee submits a request, their designated approver may receive an SMS notification. Likewise, employees are notified when their request has been approved or declined. These messages are triggered only by actions taken within the platform and are limited to the parties involved in each request.

Kronto by Passcom does not send marketing messages, promotional content, or messages unrelated to the user's workforce activity.

Opt-In Consent for SMS Text Messaging

Passcom collects explicit, informed consent before sending any SMS text messages. Consent for text messaging is collected separately from any other agreements such as terms of service or privacy policies. Users must affirmatively opt in before any text messages are sent.

Consent Language Displayed to Users

When a user provides their phone number, the following consent language is prominently displayed:

Consent checkbox label shown to users:

☐ "I consent to receive non-marketing text messages from Passcom Co about my schedule, shift updates, swap requests, etc. Message * data rates may apply.

This consent language is displayed directly on the phone number entry screen, immediately visible without scrolling, and is not embedded within a terms of service or privacy policy document.

You've signed up to receive text messages from Kronto by Passcom Co. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies based on your work activity. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

How Consent Is Collected

At no point are users automatically enrolled in SMS text messaging. Every text message a user receives is the result of a deliberate opt-in action they have taken.

User Controls & Preferences

Kronto provides comprehensive, granular controls that allow users to manage exactly when and what types of SMS notifications they receive.

Master Toggle

A single "Allow Notifications" switch lets users disable all text notifications at once. When turned off, no SMS messages are sent (except user-initiated OTP codes).

Delivery Schedule

Users can choose when they receive notifications:

Option Behavior
Always Receive notifications at any time
Only When Clocked In Messages are sent only during active work shifts
Custom Schedule User defines specific days and time windows for delivery

Temporary Mute

Users can temporarily silence notifications for 1 hour, 8 hours, or 2 days without changing their underlying preferences.

Per-Category Controls

Individual notification categories can be toggled independently, allowing users to receive only the types of updates they find valuable:

How to Opt Out

Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time through any of these methods:

Opt-out requests are processed immediately. Users will receive a confirmation message acknowledging their STOP request and will not receive further messages.

Message Frequency & Costs

Message frequency varies based on the user's work schedule and notification preferences. Typical usage ranges from a few messages per week to several per day during active shifts. Users control frequency through their delivery schedule and category preferences.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier messaging rates apply to all SMS sent by Kronto. Kronto does not charge users for receiving text messages.

Data Privacy

Phone numbers collected by Kronto are used solely for delivering the notifications described on this page. We do not sell, share, or distribute user phone numbers to third parties for marketing or any unrelated purpose.
